"The inaugural session for the International Rehabilitation and Global Health AAPM&R Community will discuss international opportunities in PM&R from medical mission work to sustainable programs. Our program will answer the following questions:
- What types of international opportunities are there?
- Where is the need for rehab -focused programs?
- What programs are currently out there where we can participate?
- What should we consider when building international rehab programs?

We have invited distinguished speakers to discuss their experiences, available international work given the current pandemic, and future plans for travel. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session that will address how physiatrists and physiatrists-in-training can get involved, discuss the risks, benefits and current challenges of rehab-focused mission work, and answer other questions from the audience. This session will also introduce the goals and agenda for the IRGH Community and plans for future virtual meetups and discussions."

Learning Objectives:

Identify current and available mission work in PM&R around the globe.
Connect and network with physiatrists who are currently involved in international rehabilitation.
Discover how to get involved in global rehabilitation efforts as a resident/ attending.
Identify the risks and challenges of mission work and the importance of building sustainable programs.
Coordinate future plans to go on a rehab-focused mission trip.
