After graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin, I trained at RIC, and spent much of my career as professor at the University of Michigan. My work, including NIH and NIDLRR grants, Founding of UM's Spine program and fellowship, and faculty roles in the business school, has resulted in over 150 papers and top American and international awards for research, teaching, and clinical service. Currently I'm in solo practice in Vermont. my Haig Consulting leads a $21 M US Department of Labor RETAIN grant for our state. Along with my brother Tom, I lead the International Rehabilitation Forum, which has just graduated Sub-Saharan Africa's first board-certified specialists in PM&R.
