037IC - Practical Vaginal Surgery for the Urologist 2022: A Course to Enhance Practical Surgical Thinking, Approaches, and Techniques to Common Urological Conditions

Vaginal Surgery for the Urologist is a practical surgical techniques course which will cover the major cases involving vaginal reconstructive surgery. In 2022 the course will focus on the most common vaginal procedures performed by urologists featuring 4 experienced vaginal surgeons. The course will not include didactic sessions, but rather teaching by videos, faculty panel and audience discussions. The course will be heavily weighted towards practical aspects and tips and tricks of vaginal surgery, specifically geared toward the practicing urologist. While we will incorporate evidence-based outcome in all appropriate areas, the focus will be on surgical approach and technique. We will address the question: why and when to consider surgery via a vaginal approach. We will discuss general principals of vaginal surgery (incisions, dissection and exposure) and focus on stress incontinence surgery, urethral reconstruction including urethral diverticulectomy, and vesicovaginal and urethrovaginal fistula repair. The course will be technique focused and will utilize videos from actual cases to show different surgical techniques. We will also discuss alternative techniques including those proposed by course participants, and there will be extensive discussions among faculty.
