Rahul K Bansal, MD, MCh, FRCSC, Associate Professor in Surgery (Urology), Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, CANADA.
Dr. Bansal's area of expertise is Renal Cancer and Renal Transplantation. He is a staff Urologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Program Director for Surgical Renal Transplant Fellowship at McMaster University. Prior to coming back to Hamilton in 2022, he worked in Section of Urology at University of Manitoba from 2017-2022 and served as Research Director for Urology residency program and Director of Laparoscopic Kidney Donation program for Transplant Manitoba.
He became board certified upon completion of residency training in General Surgery (Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi) and Urology (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh) in India. He became fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Canada upon completion of Urology residency at McMaster University, Hamilton. He completed fellowships at McMaster University and St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto in Renal Transplant Surgery along with special focus on management of Kidney Cancer. During his training, he was selected as AUA resident scholar and CUA-AUA international fellow.
He is co-author on multiple peer-reviewed publications on kidney cancer, prostate cancer, minimally invasive surgery and kidney transplant. He is certified in Surgical Research Methodology and serves as reviewer for multiple journals including European Urology Focus, Gold Journal of Urology, Canadian Urology Association Journal, BMC Urology and Indian Journal of Urology. He was named among best reviewers for Canadian Urology Association Journal. He is also member of many professional organizations including ASCO, AUA, CUA and USI.
Research Interests: Oncological and renal functional outcomes following surgery for renal cancers, oncological outcomes of upper tract urothelial carcinoma, strategies to expand organ donor pool and application of minimally invasive surgical techniques in urology.
