Dr. Yuxi Chen is the director of EMG lab and pediatric spasticity service in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center. She is also co director for multidisciplinary Function clinic which serves patients with complex medical conditions. Dr. Chen is board certified in PMR, pediatric rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She is a member of AAP and AAPMR and has expertise in rehabilitation management of pediatric patients with neuromuscular conditions.
Dr. Chen actively participates in clinical research. She was the recipient of Gabriella Molnar Pediatric PM&R Research Grant from The Foundation for PM&R. She is the principal investigator for the study to assess the efficacy of Virtual Reality Analgesia (VRA) in pediatric patients for pain control during Botulinum Toxin Injections (BTI) for spasticity management. She is also an investigator in multicenter studies evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) in pediatric and adult lower limb spasticity.
Dr. Chen is a frequently invited speaker at national and international conference. Besides her clinical, teaching and research responsibilities, she also has interest in global health and participated multiple medial mission trips to Jamaica and Iraq, providing consultations, lectures and workshop trainings to local professionals.
