This session will be an interactive case series presented by spine interventionalists to address cases of suboptimal fluoroscopic imaging or needle placement encountered in the cervical spine. This presentation will apply the objectives learned from the proposal titled "Navigating and Trouble shooting Lumbosacral Fluoroscopic Procedures" to cervical spine procedures. Ideally, these two sessions would be presented consecutively.
Each case discussed will highlight a particular cervical procedures (e.g. interlaminar epidural, transforaminal epidural, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, C1-2 injection) and discuss procedural optimization. This includes ideal needle placement, interpreting contrast patterns, minimizing radiation exposure and other safety considerations such as anticoagulation and positioning. The moderators will further review evidence-based recommendations for safety optimization and provide mechanisms and solutions to improving the injection process. The presentation will include challenging, yet common, case examples including patients that have undergone prior surgery and anatomic variants.
