Purpose:
The purpose was to determine the oral healthcare knowledge and attitudes of caregivers of patients with special needs. A questionnaire was given to (N) caregivers accompanying patients with special healthcare needs to dental appointments in the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center dental clinic. The questionnaire consisted of 16 questions. The first part of the questionnaire collected demographic information (age, gender, level of experience, level of education). The second part of the questionnaire relates to attitudes on the importance of oral health, causes of tooth decay, and signs and symptoms of tooth pain as it pertains to patients with special needs.
