Pediatric Dental Resident
University at Buffalo/Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, Buffalo, NY
University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
I'm Esther, a second-year pediatric dental resident at the University at Buffalo/ Oishei Children's Hospital. Though I'm not Buffalonian, it sure feels like it with how long I've lived here! I was born in South Korea, lived in Australia and China throughout elementary/middle/ and high school, then went to the University at Buffalo for their combined 7-year dental program. I graduated as a biology major in 2015, then took a couple months break in between to spend time in my home country. Starting 2016, I came back to Buffalo to graduate a dentist in the start of the 2020 pandemic. The pandemic didn’t halt my plans—luckily, my residency kept me in-check and busy with seeing patients, teaching dental students, and zoom lectures. The past two years have gone by so quickly, with awesome people and valuable memories for literally “a lifetime.” The extra perk is that I am now a tech-wiz with zoom, facetime, Instagram stories—basically everything except Tiktok. I’ve still got more to do, and am excited to see what the next step brings!
