Dixie Oral Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery
Matthew Mizukawa, DMD is a partner at Dixie Oral Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery in St George, UT and maintains affiliation at Vanderbilt University as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his dental degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2007 and subsequently completed his surgical training at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN in 2011. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Upon completion of his residency, he returned to southern Utah to join his father’s private practice for one year before returning to Vanderbilt to join the faculty there. He enjoyed all aspects of academia and working with the faculty and residents to mutually learn the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2014, he most recently returned to St. George, Utah where he continues to practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery in private practice. He enjoys all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, functional rehabilitation of the jaws including osseous reconstruction and implant supported prosthetics, management of benign pathology, maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, and dentoalveolar surgery. In addition, he has always had a keen interest in office-based anesthesia and promoting its safe and efficient administration. Along with Dr. Samuel McKenna and Dr. Luis Vega, he was the chief editor of "Anesthesia Considerations for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon"(Quintessence Publishing, 2017). His vision for this book is to be an easy-to-access reference for oral and maxillofacial surgeons as they provide office-based anesthesia and to fortify the exceptional margin of safety that the specialty has built over decades of practice. He has also enjoyed serving on the AAOMS Committee on Anesthesia with so many OMS colleagues committed to protecting and propagating our anesthesia privelege.
