Director of Gender Programming

Dr. Janet Saul is the Director of Gender Programming for PEPFAR in the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy at the US Department of State. In this position, Janet provides technical leadership for the DREAMS Partnership, a comprehensive HIV prevention program for adolescent girls and young women in 15 high burden countries. She also advises senior leadership on strategic directions for programmatic and research activities related to primary prevention of sexual violence and HIV among young adolescents, gender equality, violence prevention and response, as well as how these issues impact the successful delivery of HIV prevention, care and treatment. Prior to her current role, Janet provided leadership for over 25 years on the evaluation of HIV and violence prevention strategies, as well as linking science and practice at CDC. She is a behavioral scientist with a PhD in Community Psychology. Janet has also worked and volunteered in numerous community-based organizations, including a domestic violence shelter, a rape crisis center, and a reproductive health center.
