Audrey Odom John, MD PhD is the Stanley Plotkin Endowed Chair in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, her NIH-funded laboratory has focused on microbial metabolism, particularly in the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, with a particular interest in development of novel therapeutics and diagnostics. Dr. John is an Investigator in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Diseases of the Burroughs Welcome Fund. She has received numerous accolades, including awards from the American Chemical Society, March of Dimes, and was the inaugural winner of the IDSA IDea Incubator Grand Prize.
