Frances A. Griffin, RRT, MPA, has worked in health care for over 25 years, particularly in the areas of quality improvement, patient safety and innovation.
Ms. Griffin is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with experience in the hospital setting including administrative oversight for quality, case management, and other related departments. Ms. Griffin is an independent consultant, faculty at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and serves as improvement advisor to multiple professional organizations. Previously, she worked at the CMS Innovation Center where she led the Innovation Advisors Program and served as a senior advisor to various innovation models. Ms. Griffin was full-time staff at IHI for 8 eight years, directing patient safety, infection prevention and reliability projects and collaboratives, and serving as faculty for the 100k and 5 Million Lives Campaigns. Ms. Griffin is co-developer of the IHI Global Trigger Tool and an author on several IHI white papers. She is author of numerous articles related to patient safety and quality improvement in health care and author of “Patient Safety and Medical Errors,” a chapter in The Healthcare Quality Book: Vision, Strategy, and Tools (3rd edition).
