Dr Sheridan completed her medical school at the Lake Erie College of Medicine in Erie, PA in 2005. She then completed a residency in Internal medicine at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA followed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She joined UPMC as faculty in the ID Division after completion of her fellowship in 2010. Since then, Dr Sheridan completed several training courses in Quality Improvement through the NQF as well as an executive MBA certificate for healthcare administration through the Katz School of Business, also in Pittsburgh, PA. Early in her career, she was tasked with development of the OPAT Program at UPMC. In 2013, she secured funding through UPMC Health Plan for support of the program. Under her leadership, the UPMC OPAT Program has demonstrated significant reductions in 30 day rehospitalizations & adverse event rates related to IV antibiotics. In collaboration with the robust ID Telemedicine program at UPMC, the OPAT program has been a pioneer of Tele-OPAT with visits starting in 2014. She won a UPMC ACES Award in 2018 in recognition of the achievements of the OPAT Program. Dr Sheridan rounds on the general inpatient ID service, the surgical ID service, and the HIV service. She also spends time teaching the fellows, residents & students of UPMC. She enjoys hiking in the woods, a good book and an even better glass of wine; however, her greatest joy is her daughter, Mabel.
