Dr. Zimmer attended medical school at the University of Kansas. She completed Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at the University of Florida. She then went on to complete a general Infectious Disease fellowship at Vanderbilt University, followed by a Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. She is an Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she serves as the Director of the Oncology Infectious Diseases service line and Associate Program Director of the ID Fellowship. She is actively involved in medical student education and serves as a block director in the Phase 1 Microbiology and Infectious Diseases courses. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
