Epidemiologist

Dr. Laura Divens Zambrano is an epidemiologist with the Emerging Threats Team in the Division of Birth Defects and Infant Disorders within the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her current work focuses on the impact of emerging infectious disease threats, such as Zika and COVID-19, on pregnancy and infant outcomes. She has previously worked extensively overseas on projects related to waterborne and vector-borne diseases and household air pollution. She is a 2016 alumna of the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service, where she worked with the CDC's Division of Global Migration and Quarantine. Dr. Zambrano received her B.A. in Biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland (2006), her MPH in Epidemiology from the George Washington University (2010), and her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from Emory University (2016).
