Dr. Jennie H. Kwon is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Infectious Diseases Division at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and an Associate Hospital Epidemiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Kwon is the Leader for COVID-19 Occupational Health for Washington University. The Kwon Lab focuses on the epidemiology, transmission, and prevention of infections due to antibiotic resistant organisms (ARO) and Clostridium difficile. Dr. Kwon conducts clinical and translational research assessing the fecal microbiome in patients with ARO infections, and the role of the microbiome of the built environment in ARO and C. difficile transmission. She conducts her research both in the laboratory and the patient bedside. Dr. Kwon’s work is funded by the CDC, NIH, AHRQ, and multiple foundations. Dr. Kwon was the 2016-2018 National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Anniversary Fellow, is currently the Chair of the SHEA Awards Committee, a member of the SHEA Research Committee, and IDSA Research Committee. Dr. Kwon’s experiences as a clinician, scientist, and NAM Fellow encompass her interests to translate the latest research findings into better quality care and outcomes for patients.
