Jelena Tica is a Clinical Research and Development Lead (CRDL) in GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), working on vaccines PhI-III clinical trials development. Before being appointed as CRDL in 2018, Jelena was working in different clinical and medical roles in GSK, namely as Value Strategy manager for Vaccines and Medical Affairs manager for asthma/COPD products. During this time, she was involved in range of activities, from early project development to product market launch. Prior to joining GSK, Jelena obtained her joint PhD degree in natural sciences focusing on genetics/genomics from European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and University of Heidelberg in 2015, after which she continued working as postdoctoral fellow in the same field at EMBL. The focus of her academic work was evolution and disease development arising from genetic rearrangements. In her free time, Jelena is acting as a member and advisor on science education initiatives for high-school students interested in Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics (STEM) careers.
