Dr Falade-Nwulia is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her main area of research interest is the development of models of linkage to and provision of medical including HCV, HIV and other infectious disease and substance use disorder care to substance using populations. Social network based methods are a key area of research focus. She is currently PI on an NIH/NIDA funded K23 award focused on understanding how social networks impact HCV transmission and treatment uptake among people who inject drugs (PWID). She led design, development and implementation of the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) HCV testing, linkage to care and treatment programs that continue to provide care to medically underserved patients in Baltimore. She is also PI of a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant focused on expanding access to Medication Assisted Treatment for patients with infectious diseases and a co-occurring substance use disorder. Clinically she provides outpatient HIV, hepatitis and substance use disorder care.
