Attending physician
Geneva University Hospitals
Angela Huttner received her medical doctorate from the New York University School of Medicine in 2000 and completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia University in New York City in 2003. She then trained in infectious diseases at the fellowship programs of the University Hospitals of Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland. She went back to the US for a fellowship in clinical research and epidemiology in Salt Lake City, Utah, from 2010 to 2012. Since her return to Switzerland, she has been conducting clinical trials and other research in infection control and in urinary tract infections in Geneva. Infection control is tackled through antibiotic optimization to reduce resistance (duration studies, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug monitoring of “old antibiotics,” etc.) as well as early vaccine development. Dr. Huttner is chair of the Swiss National Guidelines committees for uncomplicated urinary tract infection and prostatitis, consultant for the Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP), and associate editor at Clinical Microbiology and Infection, the journal of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
