Target Zero: Smallpox Eradication Program Online Archive
Leigh A. Henderson, Ph.D., an epidemiologist, is the curator of Target Zero, an online research archive dedicated to smallpox eradication, developed with her father Dr. D.A. Henderson, chief of WHO’s Smallpox Eradication Program during 1967 77. She is also executive producer of A Good War, an online resource about public health issues and those who confront them. A podcast series dedicated to smallpox eradication and its participants is in production.
Her interests are data analysis, presentation, and the management of data systems. From 2003-2014, she was director of the Behavioral Health Services Information System for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). She represented SAMHSA as an expert on treatment demand at meetings of the European Monitoring Commission on Drugs and Drug Abuse (2002 and 2003) and at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (2003). She represented Baltimore City at NIDA’s biannual Community Epidemiology Work Group from 1996-2007.
