Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC is the corporate Director of Infection Prevention at Prisma Health in South Carolina. She has worked in the field of infection prevention and control and epidemiology for over 40 years in healthcare organizations that span the care continuum. Connie is the 2020 APIC President and has served the organization in a variety of capacities over the years at the local and national level. She is also a member of the CDC Healthcare Personnel Guideline writing group and the NHSN HICPAC Definitions and Data Subgroup. Connie has received many awards for her leadership and clinical achievements including APIC’s Presidents’ Distinguished Service Award in 2018. Connie has authored multiple publications, and has been invited faculty at state, national, and international conferences. She consults with healthcare organizations on occupational health and infection prevention and control. Connie received her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing from Clemson University and has been Board Certified in Infection Prevention and Control since 1986. She received the designation of Fellow of APIC in 2016.
