Dr. Madhuri Sopirala, MD, MPH serves as the medical director of Infection Prevention and Control at VA North Texas Health Care System and as an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She trained in Infectious Diseases and obtained Masters in Public Health in Clinical Investigation in 2017. She has over 13 years of experience in hospital epidemiology and infection control and in infectious diseases. She serves on the SHEA Long Term Care Interest Group and served under different roles in different national societies such as American College of Physicians and Infectious Diseases Society of America. Her research interest is in clinical and molecular epidemiology of multidrug resistant gram negative organisms which fits well with her true passion - hospital epidemiology and infection control. She has been leading COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center as a subject matter expert and the chief of infection prevention at the VA North Texas Healthcare System since the beginning of the pandemic and has done significant amount of work engaging healthcare workers and patients alike in multiple ways in the prevention of SARS CoV-2 transmission.
