Assistant Professor
University of Kiel
Petra Bacher holds a junior professorship for Immunology and Immunogenetics, and is group leader of the Intestinal Immunoregulation Group at Kiel University (CAU), Germany. She received her PhD in Cellular Immunology from the Charité, Berlin, in 2014. The Bacher group aims at understanding the malfunction of tolerance mechanisms in the human immune system during chronic inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases, allergies or asthma. A major reasearch interest is the role of fungal pathogens in modulating the human immune system. Therein, the group specifically investigates the role of fungus-reactive T cells in immune-mediated diseases by means of novel direct analyses of antigen-specific T helper cell responses in humans.
