Professor and Director, Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Dr. Jeanne Sheffield is the Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a Professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her areas of clinical and research expertise include medical and surgical complications of pregnancy with a focus on infectious diseases and immunizations in pregnancy. Dr. Sheffield received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology there and then completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Sheffield serves on a number of national boards and committees, andcurrently serves as the Chair of the MFM Division of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She works with the National Institutes of Health and the CDC consulting for clinical guideline development in several areas including STDs in pregnancy with a specialty in syphilis. She is also a standing member of the Congressional Task Force on Research Specific to Pregnant Women and Lactation (PRGLAC).
