Dr. Teresa Drulia is an Associate Professor in the Davies School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Texas Christian University. Teresa earned her BS degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders and MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University. She practiced as a medical Speech-Language Pathologist for over 20 years where she developed a passion for working with persons with dysphagia before completing her PhD at James Madison University (2016).
Teresa directs the Laboratory of Applied Swallowing Research (LASR) at TCU where her translational research focuses on determining swallow changes in aging and efficacious treatments for dysphagia in persons with respiratory and neurological diseases. Her work focuses on dysphagia in persons with COPD as well as the role of lingual strength in swallowing. She is a TeamSTEPPS master trainer, serves as the IPE Coordinator in her department, and is a facilitator at multiple IPE events each year.
