What is required to achieve technical success in In-Situ Treatment of contaminated sediments? To address this important question, AquaBlok put together a short overview describing the technical approach (industry definitions), key technical characteristics, as well as important aspects of implementation and monitoring. There is also an appendix with descriptions of some key projects that have been performed over time. Bottom line - There is now nearly 20 years of data and long-term monitoring that supports the use and success of AquaGate+PAC for In-Situ Treatment. Please contact us with any questions or comments.

About us
AquaBlok, Ltd. is an independently owned, privately held manufacturing company based in Northwest Ohio. Founded by civil and environmental engineers and scientists, it is backed by decades of experience in coating technologies and environmental remediation. Supported by a strong group of private investors and an experienced Board of Directors, AquaBlok is well-equipped to continue its history of technical innovation and strong engineering design and application support. AquaBlok's patented composite particle design is simple in concept: A coating of fine-grained powders is applied to a stone aggregate or other core material. Typically, these powdered materials are bentonite, modified minerals, or active amendments. In addition to our standard product formulations, AquaBlok can manufacture customized products to incorporate other proprietary amendments or composite particle attributes to meet site-specific conditions and challenges. From low-permeability sealing to treatment-specific formulations, our products are widely adaptable to sealing and environmental-remedial engineering applications.

An Update.
Another interesting East Palestine Update - Would be interesting to know what they mean by "cleaned"... https://lnkd.in/gEPKquTV The article does say "a full creek re-assessment will be conducted after all impacted areas of Leslie and Sulphur run are cleaned" - hope this means actually looking at the sediment.

Reliable/Proven Activated Carbon Materials for Sediment Remediation Why use the AquaGate+PAC approach? In short, if you want something that has been proven to be effective at large-scale projects time and again, ask us to provide you the data. The most important question any engineer can ask is - Show me the post-placement data and documentation that the activated carbon was installed per the design - and it is working as intended. Unfortunately, mixing small amounts of GAC or PAC with sand, although commonly specified, is generally an undocumented approach. Just try to find the published case studies or data. We have looked and asked, it is just not available. Of course, there are exceptions, but most GAC/Sand projects don't even require testing or data demonstrating that the as-designed placement of activated carbon was achieved. Bottom line - If your sediment remediation project is evaluating an approach that may include placement of activated carbon, talk to us about why the AquaGate delivery system is the most reliable and proven approach.

AquaBlok for PFAS sequestration/mitigation? Really? Simple. With evermore challenging surface water discharge criteria, limiting groundwater infiltration into stormwater drainage systems can provide a significant reduction in off-site PFAS migration. A simple, low-permeability layer of AquaBlok in a stormwater swale can sequester PFAS and limit contaminated groundwater impacts. Additionally, if stormwater is already being treated, then placing that water back into a stormwater ditch which may have prior PFAS impacts just does not make sense. Of course, understanding the point of compliance for an off-site discharge requirement is critical as well. #aquablokforPFAS #aquablok #PFAS
