For the eyes and the brain to work together seamlessly, both the accommodation and the vergence system must be synchronized. When there is a breakdown in one or both systems, outside assistance is needed. In this course, we will discuss the differences between the two systems, how to diagnose and classify which system is causing symptoms for the patient and discover treatment plans for both.
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Understand the basic differences between vergence and accommodation
Demonstrate ability to identify binocularity disorders
Determine classifications of binocularity disorders
Discover treatment plans for vergence disorders vs accommodation disorders
