So many managers and directors don't know that they are creating risk for their physicians and practice by billing inappropriately for advanced practice provider (APP) services. They saw a need for an APP and hired one without understanding the guidelines surrounding APP utilization and billing for their rendered services. This session will cover best practices for utilizing APPs efficiently and billing for services appropriately. The speaker will cover how to accurately implement and bill for shared services between a physician and an APP; services provided by an APP incident-to a physician; and APPs acting as independent practitioners. The session will also cover the risk of billing these services inappropriately and dive into case studies of healthcare systems that have been penalized for incorrect billing.
