Dr. Maria Jose Cavagnaro earned her medical degree at 23 years old from The University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. During her medical school career, Dr. Cavagnaro distinguished herself by achieving excellence in academics. After completing medical school in Argentina, Dr. Cavagnaro completed six years of neurosurgery residency at the Hospital Fernandez, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Cavagnaro received three awards from the Argentina Neurosurgical Association for her work in research during residency.
Dr. Cavagnaro also completed a research fellowship in Skull base Anatomy at Weill Cornell University, with part of her own dissections published in a peer-review journal. She joined the University of Arizona - Department of Neurological Surgery as a research fellow in February, 2021. Dr. Cavagnaro worked in multiple projects including data collection, literature and systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and surgical video editing.
Currently, Dr. Cavagnaro is working as Complex Spine Clinical Fellow at The University at Buffalo.
