Somnath Das, MD was raised in Warner Robins, GA by his two loving parents – Dr. Santanu and Sonali Das. In college, he developed an early interest in neuroscience via his coursework at Emory. He was first exposed to neurosurgery in Paris, France, during his course on Neuroethics. As a senior, he had the opportunity to observe a neurosurgical mission in Mirebalais, Haiti. Shortly after, he started medical school at Jefferson, where he conducted research in functional and cerebrovascular neurosurgery. He is excited to be a resident at UAB and is honored to serve the patients of Birmingham and the greater Alabama area. His current neurosurgical interests include ethics in neurosurgery, global neurosurgery, functional, and pediatrics.
