David A.W. Sykes is a medical student at the Duke University School of Medicine. David graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied biochemistry, molecular biology, and music. At Washington University, David's research investigated metabolic bone disease, and his thesis characterized a novel murine model for atrophic fracture nonunion.
David's current areas of interest include degenerative spine disease, spinal cord injury, and intramedullary spinal cord tumors, as well as applications for robotics, augmented reality, machine learning, and other emerging technologies in neurosurgery.
Outside of medicine, David enjoys music and fishing.
