Maarten Groenink is a Dutch cardiologist, employed by the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His specialisation is Congenital Heart disease and Cardiovascular Imaging. In 2000 he completed his thesis ' The Marfan aorta: morphology, growth, functional properties' at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands (cum Laude). He was awarded the prestiguous 'Einthoven'-prize for his thesis in the same year. In the year hereafter he was stationed at the CMR Department of the German Heart Institute in Berlin, facilitated by a grant from the Royal Dutch Academy of Science. Since 2006 he works at the Departments of Radiology and Cardiology of the AMC as a specialist in grown-up congenital heart disease and as the director of the cardiovascular Imaging program in the AMC. He contributed to > 120 full papers in the field of congenital heart disease and cardiovascular imaging.
