Dr Ismail is Deputy Clinical Lead for Adult Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and Clinical Lead for Inflammatory Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases at King's College London/Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London. He divides his time equally between cardiovascular magnetic resonance (clinical and research) and clinical cardiology. He does weekly clinics in inherited cardiac conditions and heart failure/cardiomyopathy/pericardial disease. He also undertakes a dedicated joint cardiology-rheumatology clinic, and is part of the EGPA service. His clinical and research interests include the use of CMR for the diagnosis and assessment of inhertied and acquired cardiomyopathy, inflammatory myocardial/pericardial disease, and myocardial mechanics/cardiac magnetic resonance elastography. He works closely with clinical and engineering colleagues at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences (King's College London) to help translate innovations in sequence development and image processing to clinical practice.
