I have been working on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) over the past 18 years in both academia and industry. Before joining MCW Department of Radiology as the Director of Cardiac MRI research, I was with GE Healthcare as the Manager of Cardiac MR R&D. I have also worked in academia in key institutions nationwide, including Johns Hopkins University, University of Florida, Mayo Clinic, and University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I have extensive experience in advanced MRI pulse sequence development and programming on different platforms, image processing and reconstruction, and data processing / analysis. This allows me to develop innovative MRI techniques that are not available as commercial products; some of these techniques became products later. I have been always working on developments that increase scan efficiency, enhance imaging reliability, improve patient experience, and lead to new applications. In my research, I directly address the fact that current clinical measures of heart function, e.g. ejection fraction (EF), are not sensitive enough to detect the early phase of cardiovascular diseases development. Therefore, my research efforts, funding grants, and publications have been directed to exploit the capabilities of MRI for developing new techniques to generate quantifiable early markers of cardiac dysfunction, myocardial tissue characterization, and hemodynamics. I am the author of two text book in cardiac MRI in addition to over 250 publications, including book chapters, book reviews, peer-reviewed journal papers, and conference papers/abstracts. I have been invited as a visiting professor and to give invited / guest speaker presentations in a number of international meetings and events. I also organized a number of international workshops / tutorials, and serve as a reviewer for over 30 international journals, conferences, and grants funding agencies. I received different research funding grants, as well as many awards and nominations for distinguished accomplishments.
