Dr. Merlocco attained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and subsequently received instruction in pediatrics from the Hospital for Sick Children and University of Toronto, solidifying his interest in pediatric cardiology. He then completed training at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in pediatric cardiology with a focus on echocardiography, fetal imaging, and cardiac MRI. He further developed these specialized skills through a cardiac MRI fellowship at Children's National Health System and George Washington University. He joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty in 2017 with a position at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in cardiology and radiology and has interests in ethics, serving on the ethics committee since 2017 and undertaking a Master's degree in Practical Ethics through the University of Oxford.
