Margaret M Samyn MD MBA (Professor, Pediatric Cardiology - Medical College of Wisconsin) is a cardiologist with expertise in non-invasive imaging (echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging). She sees pediatric cardiac patients at the Herma Heart Institute (Children's Wisconsin/ Medical College of Wisconsin). A graduate of University of Detroit (summa cum laude, BS Chemistry and Biology, 1985) and Wayne State University (Alpha Omega Alpha, MD, 1989), Dr Samyn served her internship (Internal Medicine/Pediatrics) at the University of Michigan, where she completed her residency (Pediatrics, 1992). Dr Samyn completed Pediatric Cardiology fellowship training at the University of Iowa (1994 - 1997). Dr Samyn has had roles in private practice, in the pharmaceutical industry (Parke-Davis/ Warner Lambert and Pfizer), and in academia. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). She recently earned her Masters of Business administration from the University of Notre Dame. Margaret Samyn MD MBA has practiced clinical CMR for more than 18 yrs. Her research centers on CMR evaluation of congenital heart disease. Dr Samyn has also worked extensively with colleagues at Marquette University for computational fluid dynamics modeling of CMR data to evaluate aortic flow dynamics. She also is interested in CMR for the evaluation of heart transplant recipients and recently received NIH R01 funding for a multi-PI project to study transplant rejection by CMR. Dr Samyn has served on the Executive Steering Committee for the Pediatric/ Congenital section within SCMR.
