Dr. Slomka research aim is to develop technological advances and novel quantitative software and image processing methods across the spectrum of advanced cardiac imaging modalities. His educational background is in computer engineering, image processing, bioinformatics, and biomedical physics. He has extensive, hands-on experience with cardiac imaging and image analysis techniques especially cardiac myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), functional imaging, coronary imaging, and CT. His interests are in the development of efficient and practical algorithms which can be applied to existing clinical practice, aiding physicians in complex assessments of medical imaging results. He has made numerous contributions in cardiovascular His inventions are being used worldwide in the imaging research community and for clinical data analysis.
He has a sustained track record of scientific productivity (over 440 peer-reviewed manuscripts and books chapters to date, 50 in the last year) and development of practical clinical innovations. Dr Slomka developed several multicenter collaborations, which have resulted in the successful creation of the largest in the world imaging registry of new generation SPECT datasets with 15 participating sites. This year, he has received the R35 Outstanding Investigator Award (OIA) grant “Patient-specific Outcome Prediction from Cardiovascular Multimodality Imaging by Artificial Intelligence”
