Dr. Elena Amin is an interventional pediatric cardiologist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco. She performs cardiac catheterization for pediatric and adult patients with congenital and structural heart disease. She is also part of the UCSF pediatric pulmonary hypertension team. Dr. Amin completed medical school at the University of Dundee in Scotland, Pediatric Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC and Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Emory University/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Amin's research has included collaboration with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Institutes of Health on interventional cardiovascular MRI including X-ray fused with MRI overlay for cardiac interventions, MRI-guided preclinical interventions and MRI-guided diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Her current research include preclinical studies in the development, diagnosis and management of pulmonary hypertension and clinical studies to translate these discoveries for patients with congenital heart disease associated pulmonary hypertension.
