Ana Barac, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University and a director of the MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute’s Cardio-Oncology program. Her clinical and research interests focus on the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in patients undergoing cancer treatment and cancer survivors with emphasis on cardiac imaging, including CMR and echocardiography. SInce 2021 she also serves as a staff clinician in the NHLBI Clinical Physiology laboratory focused on cardiac MR imaging. Dr. Barac previously was a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and was a recipient of KL2 Scholar Award from the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science for investigations of cardiovascular toxicity in patients with breast cancer. She was the founding chair of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Cardio-Oncology Council and served as the chair of the Heart House Roundtable focused on cardiovascular disease and cancer treatment.
