Dr. Zaha is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He serves as Chief of the Cardio-Oncology Section, Director of the Cardio-Oncology Fellowship Program, Liaison for the Center of Translational Medicine at the Advanced Imaging Research Center, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and leads the IC-OS recognized Cardio-Oncology Center of Excellence at Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.
As a clinician-scientist, he is conducting translational research in myocardial energetic metabolism alterations induced by cancer, cancer therapies and cardiometabolic disorders, studying mechanisms of cardiac injury and regenerative processes. He is combining expertise in fundamental scientific methods, multimodality advanced cardiovascular imaging and patient-centered clinical cardiac care.
He also serves as Chair of the Cardio-Oncology Section of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, on the American Heart Association Cardio-Oncology Committee, as Consulting Editor for the Journal of American College of Cardiology – CardioOncology, and is Associate Editor for the scientific journal Circulation – in these roles promoting dissemination of scientific knowledge.
