Lilia M. Sierra-Galan, MD, is a Clinical Cardiologist working at the American British Cowdray Medical Center, where she is faculty and leads the international relationships of its Cardiovascular Division. She earned her MD in Mexico, her CVI fellowship at the NHLBI at the NIH in Bethesda, Washington Hospital Center in DC, and INCOR in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She earned a Master's degree in CV diseases in Murcia, Spain. She is an active member of SCMR, SCCT, AHA, and ACC and has participated as a faculty member for many of these societies. She acted as Non-US Cardiologist at the SCMR Board of Trustees from 2018 to 2021. She has broad experience chairing national chapters of cardiology societies. She has been an active member of SCMR since 2000 and, in 201,3, formed the successful SCMR Translation Committee and led an international team of writers and reviewers. She has served as Vice-Chair of the SCMR Clinical Practice Committee and is an active member of the Case of the Week Editorial team, the Education, Communications, Clinical Practice, Advocacy, and International Outreach Committees; in this former, she is acting as Chair, where she helped to restructure it to include a broad spectrum of strategic members balancing gender and background equity with female/male and radiologist/cardiologist/scientist from each region of the world according to the United Nations. She is active in CMR research and has several scientific publications in English and Spanish and book chapters in the field. Her main interest is promoting state-of-the-art CMR knowledge to sites worldwide. She is confident that she can encourage more active participation in Society to strengthen its role and raise CMR visibility worldwide.
