Amit R. Patel, MD is a cardiologist who specializes in cardiac imaging. He is the Julian Ruffin Beckwith Distinguished Professor of Medicine at University of Virginia where he serves as the Director of Cardiac Imaging and also Director of Cardiac MRI and CT. Dr. Patel’s research has focused on the evaluation of ischemic, infiltrative, and inflammatory heart diseases. He has published over 150 manuscripts. He lectures nationally and internationally about his clinical expertise and research. He also serves on multiple international committees dedicated to enhancing the quality of advanced cardiac imaging and has helped develop the board exam for both cardiac magnetic resonance and cardiac computed tomography. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and a Deputy Editor in Chief for Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications.
