Optional Supplies: If you would like me to prepare a portrait of you to use in the workshop, email me before February 1, 2023 at: firstname.lastname@example.org Personalized images will be $10. I will also provide non-personalized practice images to use for learning this technique, free of charge.
Coordinating thread for your color family (neutral is fine, nutral thread will be provided in the room but you may bring coordinating thread if you'd like)
Fabric Scissors, shared scissors will be provided but you may wish to bring your own to maximize your class time and experience.
Students will learn how to recreate an image using improv quilting techniques and fabrics grouped into values. This technique can be used to recreate any image, and is especially striking with portraits. The workshop will focus on how to improvisationally piece within a given value, and how to combine shapes and values to create a larger image. No prior knowledge of improv piecing is required. Sewing machines provided!
