To make my time waiting for print files to RIP at work more interesting, I got myself a dot pad to doodle quilt designs. Previously, I tended to over-engineer my designs, but with the dot pad, I’ve felt more comfortable taking a less-is-more approach. I first made this quilt as a mini in different colours but wasn’t completely happy with my quilting choices. When the fabrics were released for this year’s challenge, I decided to try again, adding to the design to make it larger and echoing the piecing with a heavier 28wt thread – in the same colours – across the large expanses of negative space.
