I made a mistake as I gathered all my blue scraps in haste. I collected them without thought and sewed the blocks in a hurry, combining the blues with other curated stash. I arranged them. And arranged them again. Nothing worked. I had sewn the blocks with one plan and arranged them a multitude of ways, always finding fault. The blues I expected to fade into the background were full of contrast. I finally decided to use that contrast to my advantage, and hundreds of blocks became a finished quilt in a matter of days. The background is not the field of blue I had intended. It is instead an activated negative space.
