This is a spin off on my Wax Lyrical quilt. The colour placement, the directions of the shapes and the quilting entice a sense of play, movement and rhythm that reminds me of hopscotch, jump ropes and paper cups slapped on the table, all whilst singing. The Clapping Song by Lincoln R. Chase, sung by Shirley Ellis is what I hear in my head when looking at this quilt. Piecing the skinny inset strips between the Drunkard’s Path shapes was the only way to make the shapes sit on top of the background and give them room to move to the clapping beat. I left the quilting decisions entirely to Christine Perrigo @ccpquilt as she is magic.
