This quilt was the second I made, exploring one improvisationally designed paper pieced block. The pieced design is off center in the square quilt block. When rotated, the negative space creates fun "steps" in the block design. I rotated the blocks to achieve this goal in the upper right portion of the quilt and then turned them all in the same direction in the lower half of this on point quilt layout. I like the contrast between the two arrangements and the asymmetry it brings to the quilt top design. I quilted with a 1/2" diagonal grid to add a lot of texture but minimal distraction from the two color pieced design.
