For this quilt I used one of my husband's old, ripped jeans. Pickle colored cotton and some dark blue denim, leftover fabrics from other projects. I like the stark contrast between the new and the old denim. The color and the feel of the worn and brittle fabric. It's a poetic material, somehow. It tells of strength and perseverance and beauty. I machine quilted along the edges of the yellow strips to stabilize them. The rest of the quilting was done by hand. It was a long, quiet, beautiful process.
