In the past year, I discovered that creating a quilt without a pattern makes my heart soar. As I pursued my art, I became part of a fantastic online community and made dear friends. This quilt was created as part of an Instagram improv QAL. As I sewed each block, I put them together to get the vision of my final project. But like most improv piecing, it didn't come together until the end. I noticed that several of my blocks had a thin line moving through them, and I decided to connect these lines. It made me think about the Chinese proverb - that there is an invisible red thread connecting those destined to meet. This led me to quilt in red thread. Then I embroidered red French knots along the thin line, representing the idea of the red thread tying all of us in the quilting community together.
