I was curious to work with the kaleidoscope block because it creates the illusion of appearing and disappearing circles. I think of color as related to taste, hence the title. Tasty pinks; tart greens. Juicy oranges and lemons. Rickeys are sparkling beverages; the appearing and disappearing circles imitate the bubbles. It seems to me that most often kaleidoscope blocks are made with strong graphic contrast, but I wanted to make color interaction my focus. Usually each block might have just two colors. My blocks have a minimum of four colors, and up to 8 colors. I'm happy with the glow that I created by grouping the colors in sequences within the blocks, and by contrasting the inner area of the quilt, where there is more graphic contrast, with the outer quasi-border, where there is strong color contrast but little value contrast.
